Camp Monty started in the city of Niksic, Montenegro in the summer of 2007. Eric and Lynne Murphy, who reside in Budapest, Hungary, came to Niksic to connect with young people. They brought Americans, Romanians and Hungarians with them to teach English, basketball, soccer [football] and crafts. A partnership was forged with The English Language Center and its leaders, Dragan Tepavcevic and Stanisa Surbatovich. The Hotel Onogost is used as the headquarters for Camp Monty and it also provides housing for the camp personnel. The response has been quite enthusiastic with many Montenegrin teens attending Camp Monty in 2007 through 2009. Plans are underway for another Camp Monty in Niksic, August 2-6, 2010. Can’t wait!!
